Jo Konvinse

Hi, I’m Jo Konvinse. Welcome to the virtual opening of my art show at the Genesee Valley Council on the Arts. After a 30 year hiatus from art while I concentrated on my family and career as a School Library Media Specialist, I dusted off my loom and started weaving again. As I took up my craft again, I wondered if my creative juices had dried up, but was glad to discover that it was like a dormant seed that, with a little nurturing, is ready to blossom.

I took a needle felting class about four years ago at Fiber Flurry and shortly after that started combining tapestry with needle felting. The needle felted landscapes were all created during this pandemic. It’s my personal palindrome that during this time when so much is broken in the world, I am creating idyllic images…with no people.

I am a fiber artist specializing in tapestry weaving and needle felting. My tapestries are hand woven on a floor loom or a frame loom that I built myself. The felted pictures are created using roving and a felting needle.
