Dave Hasler

From the artist:

I live in rural western New York State and became interested in history since childhood. Our area is rich in early frontier settlements to providing military troops to the War of 1812 to today’s conflicts.

I have been interested in art since I was young taking all the drawing and painting classes possible in high school, and majoring in art at college. I taught art for 32 years and retired 12 years ago.

My paintings and drawings reflect an emphasis on historic accuracy. I work mainly in the World War eras. I use many reenactors as models for my work along with period photographs. My work represents military and homefront themes.

My WWII period pinups depict the noseart that decorated the aircraft of the period, and the popularity of the poster art themes.

My artwork has been on multiple covers of the National Muzzleloading Rifle Association’s publication MUZZLEBLAST, as story illustrations in Muzzle Loader magazine, and also featured on several Facebook groups as the cover art.  I’ve had painting in Country Living magazine, The Journal of The Garand Collectors Association...and featured in several galleries in years past. I have done art shows since the early 1980’s but took a very long break when our kids came along. Now that they are both grown and I am retired I have once again taken up my artwork for fun!

I don’t get involved with heavy duty self promotion, art shows, galleries, or advertising of my work. I simply enjoy having fun creating my work and if folks like it...all the better!

I hope you enjoy my work and feel free to contact me with questions or about doing commissioned works. I draw or paint daily so please check back often to see what new creations have been posted.
