Our mission is to enrich the quality of life in Livingston County by encouraging and promoting arts and cultural activities through support of artists, schools, and community groups. With diminished state funding over the last five years, our staff relies more and more on the generosity of volunteers to help accomplish this mission. Many hands make light work… And of course, we try to have some fun along the way, so join us!
We welcome interns and offer projects in a variety of specializations.
Volunteers are needed for the following purposes:
Staff our gallery for a minimum of one two-hour shift per month. This includes greeting visitors and providing them with information (training is provided and information is always available to docent.) In addition, docents assist with occasional office projects, most often, mailings.
Help us to update our online calendars, organize files, work on mailing projects, volunteer scheduling, copying, etc. This position requires use of a computer; including basic internet usage (training will be provided). Position is approximately five hours per week, with potential for more hours if desired, flexible scheduling.
Assist the arts center in spreading the word about what we have to offer. Locate potential advertising venues and schedule delivery of promotional materials with publicity assistants.
Distribute postcards, fliers, etc. to local businesses and organizations for approximately four hours per month, flexible scheduling. Transportation is required.
Help with set-up and staffing of our special events, like the Artful Holidays. This requires filling in only at certain times of the year. Artful Holidays at the Arts Center will be held during gallery hours Nov. 11-Nov. 30 and we will be in need of extra helpers for one-two hours shifts on Saturday and Sundays.
